We recently released a Business Rules Management System (BRMS) product built on Jboss Rules Engine and Documentum. Here’s some information about it. We used Jboss Rules Engine at our customer sites for managing workflow configurations and business policies. We found that the product performed really well with high-volume transactions even with complex rules. Having to appreciate its capabilities and knowing its limitations, we built additional features to meet the industry requirements for a fully-featured BRMS. We added a server component that automatically manages any rule and a web service client that allows you to call the rules from your application. We created a RulesMachine activity template that allows you to call the rule from any process. We also added a client called RulesMachine Studio to manage the rules from within your browser. To showcase its capability, we created a Documentum Configuration tool called Docbase Configurator built on RulesMachine. The Configurator allows administrators to easily create and update ACLs, folders, groups, and populate custom attributes. So far, the feedback have been extremely positive. If you have business policies, government regulations, and industry standards to comply with, BRMS is an essential tool for you. If you have not considered it yet, I strongly suggest reading more about it. Also download & test Docbase Configurator and RulesMachine for 30 days. I would love to hear your feedback… Posted in Do I need a Rules Engine? | No Comments »
